The NFT Collection
At the core of every civilization lies its art and culture. They encapsulate the ethos, beliefs, and stories that define who we are and where we come from. Whether it's the Renaissance masterpieces, ancient sculptures, indigenous folklore, or traditional music, each piece of art and cultural heritage bears the imprints of our ancestors' lives, aspirations, and struggles. They offer windows into the past, enabling us to comprehend our roots and appreciate the diversity that enriches our global society. Preserving these invaluable treasures is not merely an act of conservation; it's an endeavor to safeguard the essence of our existence and pass it on to future generations.
Protection of art and culture is paramount for the continuity of human heritage. These treasures not only celebrate our history and diversity but also inspire creativity, innovation, and unity. Embracing our cultural legacies is not merely an obligation; it's a testament to our reverence for human expression and a legacy we must pass on to posterity.
In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, the preservation of art and culture faces both new challenges and innovative opportunities. The emergence of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) presents a novel avenue through which the conservation of artistic and cultural heritage can be revolutionized and sustained.
A Year in Covers is mainly an online project (with some IRL activations) because the advent of technology has redefined how we create, consume, and interact with artistic expressions and cultural artifacts. This new environment forces us to use innovative ways of communicating our message (cover artwork matters), and also allow us to leverage those technologies to reach a wider audience, in other words, art and culture have transcended traditional boundaries and are now finding a new realm in the digital sphere.
Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), built on blockchain technology, offer a groundbreaking solution to preserve art and culture. NFTs provides a robust framework for documenting and archiving digital artworks, historical artifacts, and indigenous cultural expressions. By attaching NFTs to these digital assets, cultural institutions can establish a transparent and verifiable record of provenance and ownership, ensuring their authenticity and preserving their heritage for future generations.
AYiC NFT Collection intends to use NFT technology to preserve some of the best electronic music covers of every AYiC edition. By using the blockchain technology, we can safeguard ever year artwork heritage and inspire other generations to come by offering easy access to our electronic music covers cultural heritage.
To do so we decided to use an afforfable and inclusive blockchain called Tezos that allow us to create tokens for each awarded cover artwork, properly crediting the authors, artists and record labels that made it possible. Contrary to what some may think, the only purpose of tokenising this artworks is to add a different layer of protection to the yearly curated artworks, creating a reliable and secure method to store all these information forever.
